Chapter Twenty-Five
Arizona
When I woke up this morning, I wasn’t feeling too well. I went into the bathroom to wash my face and brush my teeth. I walked downstairs to make a bagel and get some orange juice so that I could take my prenatal vitamins. I was startled seeing Dre sleeping on the couch because I didn’t hear him come in last night. I smiled on the inside that he was home, but I was upset that it took him so long to come home. I had no idea where he was staying and who he was staying with, but here I was, ready to welcome him back with open arms. I didn’t want him to know that I was happy to see him, so I took my ass into the kitchen, not bothering to wake him up.
“You fixing a nigga some breakfast?” he asked, entering the kitchen, grabbing me around the waist, and kissing me on my neck.
As much as my body yearned for him, I wasn’t about to give in to him that easily. He needed to know that I was pissed at the bullshit he’s done. I don’t know what made him think that shit was sweet and that I was going to be okay with his behavior. He and Liyah are both on the same bullshit, thinking that I was supposed to just smile and say that all is forgiven.
“Dre, are you serious right now? I have been calling and texting you for weeks. How could you not come home or answer any of my calls like I did something to you?” I said, getting upset.
“Ari, I never said that you did anything wrong to me. I didn’t come home because I fucked up, and I knew that if I came home, we wouldn’t have gotten anywhere, so I decided to give you time. It may not have been the best decision, but it is what it is at this point, and I’m just trying to move forward.”
Wow, the typical fucking man. Not only did his ass cheat, he cheated with my best friend, and that’s all he has to say. He didn’t offer a sorry or anything else to the girlfriend that he abandoned for fucking weeks. I swear, if I didn’t love this man, I would have tried my hand at killing his ass.
“Dre, staying away was fucked up - just like your reason for not coming home. You hurt me, and you needed to feel my wrath, but no, you took the punk way out by avoiding me. Now, you come home like shit is all good, without as much as an apology. You owe me an apology and an explanation for sleeping with my best friend. One that I still want and deserve,” I told him.
“Ari, why can’t we just move forward? I already said that I fucked up. I didn’t say it, but I do feel bad, but I’m not going to stand here and say that I regret it because that would be a lie.
